Jo Huygh

Jo Huygh has a master degree in civil engineering, option architecture, (KULeuven and Ecole des Mines de Paris, 1992), a master degree in environmental sciences (KULeuven 1993) and a master degree in real estate management (KULeuven 1996).

He has been managing for more than 25 years small and larger scale building and development projects in Belgium and abroad. Important points of interest within these projects are the metropolitan context, mixed urban development, inclusive entrepreneurship, co-creation, bottom-up dynamics and free creativity.

Major long-term projects concern the redevelopment of the historical slaughterhouse site in the center of the Brussels Region, the renewal of the Spaak building, home of the European Parliament, and the development of different co-housing projects.

He is the co-founder of “DRUUM” with his partner Karine Van Doninck (since 2015), a bed & breakfast concept organized around contemporary art, he is founder and board member of “DUSS” (since 2019), a consultancy company specialized in sustainable development projects within the built environment, board member of “e-Biom” (since 2019), a consultancy company specialized amongst others in biodiversity in an urban context and recently co-founder of “Kotmet” (since 2021), an urban development company and board member of “Abattoir” (since 2022).
