MOUTH

MOUTH, the Museum of Understanding, Trust and Humanity aims to bring people together. Its origins are in a dream shared by artist Koen Vanmechelen and rheumatologist/immunologist Philip Remans. It wants to test the diversity and many layers in the artist’s oeuvr outside the artistic cage of museums and galleries, at the heart of society, among people and in the communities.

Ichi-go Ichi-e’. Cherish every encounter. Every encounter is unique. Approach them - as the Japanese say - knowing that a similar encounter will never occur again. You find the other in yourself. You find yourself in the other. We exist through the other. Koen Vanmechelen's work is made to bring people together, to make people reflect together and to take action together

Philip Remans, founder MOUTH

MOUTH connects the ever-increasing number of Open Global Farms throughout the world, which are the cornerstones of the PCC project. It ensures its translation into a social context, which promotes sustainability and a new ecological balance. The foundation also oversees the research aspect of projects such as CCP, LUCY, MECC, SOTWA and the resulting bio-database.

MOUTH is one of the supporting partners of the Human Rights Pavilion and of SoTO/Survival of the Other, a collection of exceptional encounters hinged on central themes in Vanmechelen's work and elaborated in various SoTO triennials.
