Koen Vanmechelen takes part in ‘Uitgestald-1’ at the MAD Art Gallery in Poznań, Poland, a traveling group show that was previously on show in Genk (Belgium). The exhibition is based on the artist’s book UITGESTALD-1 that highlights the current and future artist generation of Limburg.
Future generation
Uitgestald-1 brings together 20 artists, with a connection to Limburg (Belgium), through an Open Call, and selected by a professional jury. The selection represents different media and is characterized by a wide variety of backgrounds: from born and bred Limburger with Italian roots to immigrants from Dutch Limburg; from very young talents, artists without any exhibition experience, to VONK residents and HISK and Wanatoe laureates, to seasoned veterans with galleries at home and abroad. The result was not only shown in a classically curated exhibition, but also captured in a unique art book that aims to reflect the diversity of Limburg as a developing art center.
Uitgestald-1 now travels to Poznan where it will be on show from 9th December onwards, at the MAD Gallery. The exhibition will be accompanied with a new open call ‘UITGESTALD-2’ calling for artists with Polish roots or connected to the Wielkopolska region.
