Maryam Jamshid

Maryam Jamshid is 35 years old, lives in Hasselt and is a lawyer by education. She worked for several years as a consultant in the cabinet of Minister Koen Geens. Since 3.5 years, she has been working as coordinator of Group INTRO Limburg where she leads a team of 50 coaches and training staff who work together on an inclusive society. She is in her second term as the first female chair of the Limburg Integration Council in which she, together with 50 umbrella organisations and interested parties, stands up for the ethnic cultural minorities in our super-diverse province. Maryam fled Afghanistan as a 10-year-old with her parents and two sisters. For years, she has been lecturing to various groups, taking them through the evolution of women's rights in Afghanistan and giving a perspective on current events.
